Most of the Harebreaks Estate was built in the 1920s when car ownership in the area was almost zero!
This means parking can be an issue - with verges often being churned up into muddy patches at this time of year.
Ian Stotesbury, Robbie Laird and the Lib Dems want to see a comprehensive plan and consultation on restoring damaged areas but also providing more parking.
All the former council houses are now managed by the Watford Community Housing Trust who are also responsible for the open spaces and greens.
Some areas have grasscrete, and post-and-rail fencing and some of Longspring has raised verges.
“Just replacing broken fencing is no good - that's not going to make a difference to residents wanting somewhere to park. It’s clear more parking can and should be provided in places such as The Harebreaks, Breakspear Close, Nicolas Close.” said Ian and Robbie.
They are now collecting a petition calling on the Housing trust to work withCounty Council highways to do just that.
“With Labour councillors at Borough and County level here for years why have they done nothing ?” asks Ian.
