Rough sleeper winter help

9 Oct 2023

New Hope, the local homelessness charity, will once again run their winter shelter from December 1st to March 31st, thanks to funding from Lib Dem-run Watford Council.

The winter shelter will provide a hot meal and a safe haven for those in need during the winter months. In addition, support workers from New Hope will assist guests to get the help they need for longer term accommodation. Watford Council has been praised nationally for its pioneering work to tackle homelessness and the winter shelter is a key part of this work.

Elected Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said:

"I am committed to ending rough sleeping in our community. Together we are making sure that free accommodation is readily accessible to those sleeping rough in town. I am pleased that we can work with New Hope to provide this much-needed support, ensuring that no one has to endure sleeping rough this winter."
