I have worked in West Hertfordshire Hospital NHS Trust across 3 sites for the last couple of years. Supporting patients and families, I engage and encourage people (across all ages and ethnicities) to discover volunteering's role in the community and its impact on people's lives. I have volunteered for the last 12 years and supported local children and families outside of work. My great understanding of the third sector, CVS, charity organisations and their role has helped me create a community in which I would like to live in a multi-diverse town. Understanding local authorities also helps me promote and access future possibilities, which we can use to develop and create better structure for our residents.
Why are you a Lib Dem?
Freedom to express my own view beliefs and accept people who they are without criticism or prejudices. We stand for people and behind people.
Why do you want to continue being a councillor?
It's been a privilege and honour, especially as a woman, to represent our diverse town, and I would love to continue my work over the coming years. Over the last seven years, I have gained excellent experience in our community as a Councillor, Chairman and Community Portfolio Holder, talking with community groups and residents about what matters to them. I have many plans for how our Town can flourish even more and hope with my energy and positive attitude together with the residents we can do them all.
What do you enjoy about living in Watford?
I love Watford for the people, community, solidarity, compassion and willingness to help others. For the black, red, yellow heart. For the community spirit, which we can see everywhere. We have many beautiful places, outstanding schools, lively places where we can celebrate and enjoy our culture – especially in Central, for example at the Markets Late events. I cherish the time when together with my 2 sons, husband and dog, we can go out together for a meal and have a good time. There are so many places in Central where you can go out together as a family.
What do you do in your spare time?
As a BIG Watford FC fan, I watch football, dance to good music, and exercise for my well-being and self-care. I love spending the time with family and friends. We have only one life and I decided to spend mine with people I love and doing what I love. My destiny is to help others and look after people, that is why I want to continue my role as a councillor for Watford Central.
