When South Way Playground Park opened a couple of years ago, 2 “sensory” garden planters were installed for those with disability for “Touch, feel and smell properties” Sadly these had become a bit overgrown and neglected.
Councillor Chris Whately-Smith, with the help of local adults and children, spent Sunday afternoon weeding , digging and planting herbs, flowers and bulbs.
He said ”The kids really loved it, we had a great afternoon clearing the beds of weeds, then planting up. One bed is now ornamental, the other mainly herbs. The children got to taste feel and smell some of the herbs planted and were really keen to help.”
