Courtlands Petition

Jeanette Aron and your Nascot Lib Dem councillors are backing residents’ demands for safety measures at the dangerous Courtlands Drive/Hempstead Road Junction.

This is by far the most controversial junction in Nascot, if not Watford. Additional traffic from the new developments is making a bad situation worse. Enough is enough. It is unacceptable that county officers have refused to do anything to improve this junction.

We demand a solution, a number of accidents have occurred when drivers have taken their life in their hands whilst trying to exit right from Courtlands Drive or turning right from Hempstead Road.

It’s a miracle that no-one has been killed. Jeanette is constantly being asked by residents about when something will be done. If you agree please sign the petition below.

We, the undersigned, urge Hertfordshire County Council to consider and improve safety here such as by installing traffic lights or a mini-roundabout on the Hempstead Road at its junction with Courtland’s Drive or other measures to improve traffic flows and safety.

Another accident here today, no injuries or deaths this time, only damaged vehicles, so will not appear on any statisics. It will only cost the vehicle owners and insurance companies (us) hundreds/ thousands of pounds, but importantly NOT the County Council, so why bother doing anything about this known danger spot, because until someone is killed it’s providing lots of people in repair shops lots of work, helping keep unemployment down!

I have lived in Greenbank Road for over 11 years & can’t believe that nothing has still been done about this junction. It’s a nightmare at times & needs to be improved as a priority in Watford….I’ve never understood why a roundabout hasn’t been installed, as there is room for one & would cause less congestion than traffic lights

Recently I was trying to turn right and a man appeared at my drivers window telling me that unless I pushed through the traffic we would be there forever; was I concerned, yes I was. Its only a question of time before this boils over to a case of actual bodily harm. The space is there; in the name of common sense DO something thing about it before a fatality occurs

I’m in favour of a mini-roundabout rather than lights. There is space to accommodate one. This would automatically slow the traffic and would probably obviate the need for the (has it ever been switched on?) speed camera. This would also achieve a decent road surface at this junction!

Traffic lights are a bad idea when there is enough land to accommodate a mini roundabout. Keep the traffic moving, not waiting at red lights
