I work in Adult Social Care and after 11 years at the Care Quality Commission (The Health and Social Care Regulator) have most recently worked at The Salvation Army as their Director of Older People’s Services, responsible for the operational leadership of 12 Residential Care homes for older people when they received outstanding person centred care. I am also co-chair of Governors at Parkgate Infants and Nursery School.
I was elected to represent Meriden Ward in 2019 and since then have worked hard to represent the views of local residents at the Council. My passion for working with older people has driven me to be fully involved in ensuring Watford is a Dementia friendly town. I also chair the Dementia Friendly Watford Steering group and am responsible, in partnership with W3RT for Watford’s successful Pensioners Forum. I serve in Mayor Peter Taylor’s Cabinet as Cabinet Member for Wellbeing and am the Watford Liberal Democrat’s group leader and spokesperson.
Why are you a Lib Dem?
I believe passionately in the freedom, dignity and wellbeing of individuals, all things which are a priority for the Liberal Democrats locally in Watford. Supporting those most vulnerable in our society is such a huge part of my life and I am grateful to be able to help those in need through my day job and in my work as a councillor.
Why do you want to continue being a councillor?
I want to continue to make Watford a place for everyone, building on the success of our Dementia-friendly town and working to make others feel seen and heard. I want to continue to represent the views of people in my ward and across Watford, to ensure our town develops in the right way for our local community.
What do you enjoy about living in Watford?
I was born and raised in Watford and attended Queens School in Bushey. I currently live in Meriden Ward with my partner and three children and appreciate how well connected Watford is for a busy family like mine. I love Watford's community spirit and the way we support each other in times of need.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love spending time outdoors with my family, enjoying Watford’s parks and green spaces, reading and (when the time allows), travelling.
