I have been a Local Campaigner in Oxhey since 2020 and have undertaken casework, reported repairs and organised and taken part in Community events. I took early retirement from my role as Commercial Finance Director and I now focus on work for the community. I am a casework and Treasurer for the SVP charity in Watford. In addition, I am a Non-Executive Director for a Not-For-Profit organisation and School Governor, both in Watford. I am also the Diversity & Inclusivity Officer for the Watford Lib Dems.
Why are you a Lib Dem?
The Lib Dem policy on Freedom, Rights and Equality are the ones which I am most passionate about. I believe civil liberties should be protected, our society should welcome diversity and inclusion, and discrimination should be challenged. This will help all members in society to reach their full potential, which will in turn lead to a happier and more prosperous country.
Why do you want to be a councillor?
I have a strong desire to assist residents in the local community to help them achieve their goals, live in harmony and help them with their concerns and issues. The role of councillor will give me the opportunity to undertake this work for the residents of Oxhey and Watford.
What do you enjoy about living in Watford?
My family came to Watford in 1973, and since then I have lived across four wards including Oxhey. I find Oxhey to have really friendly residents, who have a strong sense of community and enjoy their fantastic award winning parks. Watford is a fantastic place to live!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
When I am not working I like spending time with family and friends. This could be over coffee, walking, Quiz nights or playing sport.
