I became involved in local politics over a decade ago, when as the chair of my local resident’s group, I opposed an inappropriate development. I have now been a councillor for 13 years with a passion for housing equality and social housing. I am a member of the council’s cabinet with responsibility for housing planning and commercial property. I am proud that we now have all our temporary accommodation within the borough and families and single people no longer have to share facilities. We are one of very few authorities to have achieved this. I am also responsible for our property portfolio which now generates more income than council tax.
Why are you a Lib Dem?
I want to see a world in which all people share the same basic rights, in which they live together in peace and in which different cultures will be able to develop freely. Upholding these values of individual and social justice is really important to me.
Why do you want to continue being a councillor?
I became a councillor to represent local residents issues and concerns. I enjoy casework and supporting residents whith a range of issues. I am proud of the difference I have made over the years supporting residents in often very difficult moments in their lives.
What do you enjoy about living in Watford?
I enjoy keeping in touch with residents of Tudor who are always polite and respectful even if they don’t share my vision for our town.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
After lockdown restrictions getting back to a more normal life. It’s great to socialise with friends be it going out for a meal Cinema and all the other activities we have taken for granted previously. Life long Hornets fan with many ups and downs over the years.
