Call on TfL to Urgently Rezone Watford's stations
Every day Watford commuters are paying unfairly high fares compared to people travelling the same distance into London from Zone 6. A peak return journey from Watford Junction costs £22.20, nearly double the cost of return peak journey from Zone 6 stations such as Epping at £11.60 - despite both journeys being around 16.5 miles.
Over a year, Watford commuters can pay more than £1,000 extra simply because of this outdated zoning classification. This unfair system is made worse by TfL’s 5.8% fare increase that will take effect in March 2026 as we continue to face a cost-of-living crisis.
Watford residents travel into London to work, study and support the economy, yet our town is split across multiple fare zones, creating confusion and higher costs.
We are calling on Transport for London to urgently review Watford’s stations and reclassify them all into Zone 6. This would create a fairer, simpler fares system and put money back into the pockets of Watford residents.
Support our call to rezone all Watford stations into Zone 6 by signing this petition. This petition will be presented to TfL and to the London Assembly.
