Cllr Sohail Bashir

(Local Councillor)

Born and educated in Watford, he is proud to serve the town that shaped him. First elected as a councillor in 2014, he served two terms until 2021, took a short career break, and was re-elected in 2024 to represent Vicarage Ward as a Liberal Democrat. He is honoured to serve as Vice Chairman of the Council for 2024–2025.

He is committed to ensuring everyone in Watford has the opportunity to live well, and believes local government works best when councillors are visible, approachable, and rooted in their communities. He works to listen to residents, address everyday concerns, and advocate on wider strategic issues.

A solicitor with over 20 years’ experience, he has also built a long career in investments and property. Giving back is central to his work: he provides pro bono legal advice to individuals, charities, and NGOs, is a former trustee of Watford Citizens Advice Bureau, and founded a local law clinic offering free legal support.

His professional and community experience underpin his work as a councillor, giving him a strong understanding of local pressures and the importance of fairness and opportunity. He is proud to represent Watford across the borough and remains passionate about strengthening neighbourhoods and helping the town thrive.
