Watford Lib Dem wins

The Watford Liberal Democrats are celebrating a fantastic set of results in the recent 1 May 2025 local elections, winning all but one of Watford’s County Council divisions.

We proudly held all of our existing seats and gained North Watford from Labour, bringing the total number of Lib Dem County Councillors in Watford to six. There was also a strong result in West Watford, where Aga Dychton came a close second—just 130 votes behind.

Across Hertfordshire, the Liberal Democrats gained 8 seats, becoming the largest party on the County Council with 31 councillors—ending 26 years of Conservative control.

This success mirrors national trends, with Liberal Democrats now controlling 3 county councils and the largest party in 4.

To everyone who voted, volunteered, and stood as a candidate—thank you. Your support made this possible. We are incredibly grateful to all our candidates and everyone who supported our campaign.

Nationally and locally these elections have also seen an increase in support for the Reform Party. Their leader often praises Donald Trump and promotes divisive and destructive politics.

If you believe in a more positive, inclusive approach, join the Watford Liberal Democrats. We will always work with our community to make Watford a better place for everyone. https://www.watfordlibdems.org/get-involved
