Bridgewater Surgeries Parking Charges Scrapped Following Lib Dem Campaign
Following a successful campaign by the Watford Liberal Democrats, the sudden introduction of parking charges at Bridgewater Surgeries has been scrapped.
Earlier this month, it was announced without any warning or consultation that patients would have to pay £1 to park for up to one hour and £3 for up to two hours.
In response, Holywell Campaigner Emil Rowe and the Liberal Democrats launched a petition calling for the charges to be removed. Within just a few days, more than 130 local patients and residents had signed the petition.
New signs have now been ordered that will restore the free hour that had previously been offered.
Lib Dem Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, said: "I’m delighted that the estate management company at Bridgewater Surgeries has decided to scrap parking charges following a campaign by the Watford Liberal Democrats team. The number of residents who signed our petition calling for this reversal and contacted me shows just how concerned people were, especially for our most vulnerable patients. I’m so pleased their voices were heard and that access to our local GP has been protected.
“I’m really pleased that sense has prevailed after Emil Rowe and Councillor Peter Kloss pressed for the estate management company to rethink their decision.”
