Ed Davey visits Watford
Ed Davey took centre stage at the Watford Liberal Democrats’ Annual Fundraising Dinner, rallying the local party as they aimed for key gains in the final Watford Council elections before reorganisation.
The fundraising dinner gathered supported and received a record number of donations as it gathers support for Mayor Peter Taylor’s re-election campaign in May.
In his speech, Davey talked about the record of the Liberal Democrats in Watford, from Baroness Dorothy Thornhill to current Mayor Peter Taylor and the growing number of councillors in Watford and beyond.
He singled out the recent by-election victory in Tudor where Reform threw the kitchen sink at it but the Liberal Democrats achieved an increased majority with new councillor Callum Robertson being elected.
Peter Taylor, Lib Dem Mayor of Watford, who addressed over 120 assembled Lib Dems added:
“It was brilliant to have Ed join us. Many people feel really let down by Keir Starmer and his Labour government but don't like Reform's divisive politics either.
"The Liberal Democrat approach is to work with our community to make life better for everyone. We have a strong record in Watford and Ed has encouraged us to fight for every vote in the local elections later this year."
