Peter Taylor Unanimously Re-selected as Liberal Democrat Candidate for Watford Mayor

17 Sep 2025

We're pleased to announce that Peter Taylor has been unanimously re-selected as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Mayor of Watford in the upcoming May 2026 local elections.

Peter has served as Watford’s Mayor since 2018 and was backed unanimously by local party members during a recent selection meeting. His re-selection reflects the strong support and trust he continues to receive from both party members and the wider Watford community.

Lib Dem Mayoral Candidate, Peter Taylor, said: “I'm delighted to have been reselected by Watford Liberal Democrat members to stand in next year's mayoral election.

“It's been a privilege to serve as Mayor since 2018, working with residents to get things done for our town.

“This is likely to be the final mayoral election in Watford. With big changes ahead, I’m determined to secure the best possible arrangements for our town. We must protect what makes Watford special and make sure we have the best possible local services.”

Chair of the Watford Liberal Democrats, Tom Osborn, said: “We are proud to announce that Peter Taylor was unanimously reselected as our mayoral candidate for next year's elections. He has served the people of Watford with dedication and integrity over the past eight years. We know he’s the right person to lead our town forward and stand up for our residents.”
