Statement from Andrew Wylie regarding Luther Blissett's inclusion in recent Watford Liberal Democrat leaflets.

As is standard practice, ahead of this election campaign, our candidates approached a number of people to ask if they would be prepared to endorse them standing in these elections. This included approaching a member of Luther Blissett's team who indicated that this would be possible.

There appears to have been a misunderstanding about the form that this endorsement would take and its use. We apologise to Luther Blissett and his team if the way that this appeared in our literature did not match their expectations, and for any upset this has caused. We recognise that Luther Blissett is not a public supporter of any political party.

As soon as we were alerted to Luther Blissett's concerns, we stopped delivering leaflets that included his endorsement. He will not appear on any other leaflets that we produce in this election or in the future.

Luther Blissett has made a very significant contribution to the life of the town and to Hertfordshire. We know that politicians from many political parties work with him to support the community and good causes and we hope this will continue in the future.
