Watford Colosseum Reopens After Major Upgrade – A New Era of Entertainment for the Town

2 Sep 2025

Watford Colosseum officially reopened at the end of August following a multi-million-pound upgrade, bringing world-class entertainment back to the heart of our town.

The iconic venue is now being managed by leading entertainment specialists AEG Presents UK, under a partnership with Watford Borough Council. This significant milestone marks the completion of a major investment in the Colosseum, supported by £16 million secured by the Council from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund.

The refurbishment not only preserves the historic character of the Colosseum but also creates new jobs, boosts local businesses, and helps put Watford on the map as a premier destination for live entertainment.

AEG Presents UK – the global operator behind venues such as the Eventim Apollo and Indigo at The O2 in London – brings a wealth of experience to Watford, ensuring a high-quality programme of events and performances.

The grand reopening featured a headline show from '90s favourites Ocean Colour Scene, kicking off what promises to be an exciting season of performances and marking a key step in the wider Town Hall Quarter regeneration project.

Mayor of Watford, Peter Taylor, welcomed the reopening, saying: This shows how Lib Dem-run Watford Council continues to deliver ambitious projects that provide outstanding leisure and cultural opportunities for our residents. With AEG Presents on board, we now have an expert operator running the venue and an exciting opening season at the revamped Colosseum.”
